About CAS Netherlands

Disfigured streetscape? Not if it is up to CAS Netherlands! CAS Netherlands has been keeping streets free of billboards and graffiti for 25 years. Using special cleaning techniques and innovative coatings, the specialists protect various surfaces such as traffic control boxes, public lighting, electricity boxes and viaducts.

Their services include graffiti control, advice on protection against vandalism, conservation and maintenance of works of art, painting and façade cleaning. CAS Netherlands also offers a 30-hour calamity service for rapid restoration, especially for municipalities and companies.

In order to carry out all the cleaning work in the best possible way, CAS Netherlands uses special high-pressure cleaning techniques, for which they enlisted the help of Waterkracht.

The challenges

CAS Netherlands cleans on site and therefore uses a mobile high-pressure cleaning installation. An installation on a trailer is less practical in the city because of its limited manoeuvrability. Besides, not everyone has a driving licence for a trailer.

This is why CAS uses 'built-in bus', which present the following challenges:

  • Limited lifespan
The old bus had a fairly short lifespan, due to the impact of water on the chassis.

  • The look of the bus
How does CAS ensure that the bus has and maintains a professional look?"

  • Noise pollution
The old bus made a lot of noise while working on the street.

Our approach

CAS Netherlands saw a Waterkracht bus built-in at Helmond municipality and got to know us through Frank Verhoeven. They wanted us to fit out their new bus and were interested in the patented Boiling Hot Water Technique to remove graffiti without chemicals.

The following is our process for this project:

  • Casco bus choice
CAS Netherlands chose a casco bus. Waterkracht advised on the right purchase, such as the required dimensions and the interior finish.

  • Mapping wishes
Waterkracht and CAS Netherlands mapped all wishes and tried to incorporate them as well as possible in the final product.

  • Finishing the bus
An external party took care of finishing the bus, such as panelling and waterproof coating. Waterkracht kept in direct contact with this party to ensure that the work was done properly.

  • Installation of the installation
Waterkracht built the installation in the bus, taking into account the wishes of CAS Nederland, such as self-retracting reels and an extra supply to quickly fill the water tank from, for example, a standpipe.

  • Delivery of the bus
Waterkracht delivered the bus to CAS Netherlands, with the following results...

Results

The lifetime of the new bus has doubled from 4-5 years to 8-9 years.

  • The bus has low mileage because it is stationary during on-site cleaning operations.
  • The waterproof coating prevents rust on the chassis and condensation on the roof.
  • The bus is equipped with a high-quality high-pressure cleaning system, which we continue to maintain.

These points result in a higher profit margin: the higher investment pays off through the extended lifespan and CAS Netherlands achieves a significantly higher working speed with better results.

The bus was delivered as the customer envisaged. All wishes have been incorporated into the installation. In addition, the cleaning work is carried out more effectively and efficiently, partly due to the Boiling Hot Water Technique. This technique allows boiling water droplets to accurately collide with graffiti, thereby removing the paint in an environmentally-friendly and fast manner.

In fact, it is also possible to lease a bus instead of buying one: choose an 8-year lease (instead of 5 years) and benefit from lower monthly costs.
